The right-hander originally signed a two-year, $23 million deal with the Phillies in 2019. 

 he was only able to play until mid-April of that year before he had Tommy John surgery to repair a flexor strain in his elbow.

After sitting out the entire 2020 season, he returned for Philadelphia and played in seven games.

In 2022, the Phillies sent reliever Robertson to the Cubs in a trade that included Ben Brown. Robertson then returned to the Phillies.
